Shelton Real Estate


Located in Fairfield County, Connecticut, the city of Shelton had a population of 38,101 as of the 2000 census.  A modestly sized town, Shelton is seated on 31.9 square miles of land, 4% of which is water.  Shelton is a relatively quiet town that offers all of the things that people love from bigger cities, while maintaining the small town feel that so many people are interested in.

Interesting Facts
Shelton is home to a couple very notable companies such as Wiffle Ball, Inc.  This company is the original manufacturer of the Wiffle Ball!  Many say that the Wiffle Ball is the city’s claim to fame.  Shelton is also home to Swiss Army Brands, a company that employs 175 people.

As if some of the interesting companies weren’t enough, one has to know about the Shelton Gaels high school football team.  The team is held in very high esteem in and around Shelton, and the Gaels are cheered by just about every resident.  The team won the state championships in 1988, 1995, 2000, and 2003 and is usually ranked as one of the best teams in the state every year.

In and Around Town
If you have already cheered for the high school football team, and you are ready for some more fun, you may want to check out some of the historic sites in Shelton.  Commodore Hull School, Huntington Center Historic District, and Plumb Memorial Library are all on the National Register of Historic Places and each is worth checking out if you want to learn more about Shelton.

If history is not your forte, perhaps you can go shopping, eat out, or simply enjoy the natural beauty in and around Shelton.  There is always something fun to see or do in Shelton, and if not right in Shelton, one of the neighboring towns, which is a great benefit of living in the area.  Shelton has activities for the whole family, no matter what your likes and dislikes.

With just over 38,000 residents in 2000, Shelton boasts 14,190 households and 10,543 families.  Shelton is a great place for kids, as 32% of the households have children under 18 and 63% were married couples.  Shelton is also a great place for seniors and singles, as 9% of the households are occupied by seniors, and 25% are non-families, usually indicating single residents.
